In an effort to abolish mundane interpretations of the jazz genre, the Adil Johan Quintet (AJQ) strives to provide an enlightened, informed and entertaining approach to of jazz, funk, RnB and pop. The intention is to play music from the soul while blurring the artificial boundaries of musical genres. AJQ operates from a jazz perspective to reinterpret non-jazz songs while re-imagining jazz standards with a thoughtful mix of covers and original material.

This July, Adil Johan is back from Australia and will be showcasing an entirely new repertoire of original material and re-arranged covers done in the ‘AJQ’ way. He is accompanied by an intriguing cast of old and new musicians from the KL scene.
