An international art workshop will be held from 12 to 23 December at the fishing village of Sasaran. Where exactly is Sasaran? It is situated at 30 kilometers north of Klang, Selangor. 33 artists from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Italy and Taiwan will be staying in this village in December to create new artworks and engage in this cultural exchange. It is a most significant event to gather these artists in this village. The objective of this workshop is to establish Sasaran as a ‘culture village’. This idea is derived from Sasaran artist Mr. Ng Bee, who received unanimous support from the villagers, immediately put it into action and made this vision into a reality.
These artists have different background and tradition, concept and style. This international workshop provides a tropical style and new environment for them to create their artworks. They will use various mediums of oil painting, ink painting, installation art and others to express their different experiences and emotion. This activity is also a good opportunity to nurture and train the Malaysian people in culture. It is worthwhile to mention that all these creative artworks will be sent to Wisma Kebudayaan SGM for exhibition for one week, to share their accomplishments. We welcome all to invite your friends and relatives to view this interesting exhibition.
