To increase public awareness on the prevalence and presentation of heart disease and stroke in women, the Women’s Heart Health Organisation is holding a screening programme for women on:

BANDAR SUNWAY, SELANGOR

Women can have their BMI (body mass index), blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels measured during the screening. There will also be counseling sessions and talks on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in women by doctors during the day.

Heart disease/stroke is currently the No. 1 killer of women in Malaysia, afflicting one out of four women. Deaths due to heart attacks/strokes in women is almost 2½ times more common than deaths due to all cancers combined. And more females die from heart attacks than strokes, a trend that has remained unchanged for the past ten years.
