Rhythm & Groove Music Camp is a six day intensive music learning experience. The camp is the brainchild of local veteran drummer Zahid Ahmad. Throughout his 32 years of involvement in music, Ahmad has had the privilege of working with Roslan Aziz, Sheila Majid and Zainal Abidin, to name just a few of the many. Now he wants to give something back to the local music scene.
Rhythm & Groove is only open to 120 participants. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner, music student, music lover or a part time musician, everyone is encouraged to take part in this experience.
There will be six courses available, namely: drum, bass, guitar, keyboard/programming, vocal and live sound (basic). Each will be limited to only 20 participants to ensure all are given enough attention. Each day there will be four rotations of lessons with a duration of one and a half hours. Night performances by invited guest musicians, instructors and the participants have been planned.
The instructors hail from Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. The list ranges from basisst Barry Likumahua to guitarist Man Kidal, pianist Michael Veerapan to vocalist Maria Angela and plenty more.
