Themed ‘Urban ArtBeat’, this year’s art festival will feature an vast array of vibrant art pieces interpreted in a myriad different ways across all six art galleries in Starhill Gallery in an effort to create awareness and interest among art lovers and potential art lovers.
Starting from 1st October to 31st October, the entire Muse Floor of Starhill Gallery will be transformed into a giant art gallery replete with great works of art that will not only serve to provide a visual treat to art connoisseurs and shoppers alike, but also to take them on a interpretatively surreal art adventure specially created by artistically-exceptional individuals.
Therefore, Starhill Gallery Art Festival 2008 is proud to present a collection of exquisite and unique Chinese paintings by Zhang WeiPing and He JiaLin from China. Zhang WeiPing is a professor in the National Art Academy, China, has participated in exhibitions all over China and once in Taiwan. He JiaLin, considered by many with the most potential, is also the winner of several art competitions in China.
Closer to home, another exciting highlight is the showcase of unique Malaysian paintings made possible with the cooperation between the Malaysian National Art Gallery and Starhill Gallery. The Malaysian National Art Gallery will be bringing in works of art by Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Dato’ Chuah Thean Teng and Abdul Latiff Mohidin, Malaysia’s very own pioneer artists.
Limited Edition Golden Jubilee stamps featuring the above mentioned works by our pioneer artists were recently launched by the Malaysian National Art Gallery and POS Malaysia Bhd. These collectible stamps will be available for purchase at the Starhill Gallery Art Festival 2008.
To augment art lovers’ experience at the Starhill Gallery Art Festival 2008, visitors will be able to have their pictures taken and converted into personalized stamps together with the Limited Edition Golden Jubilee stamps that can be used as a memento or as a real stamp.

These bid paintings entitled Joy of Living, Impression – Berita Kepada Kawan, City’s Rhapsody I & II, Earth Foundation – Invisible, Who Care?, and Tigers Descending the Mountain, are amazing expressionism pieces that take the simplest subjects and turn them into a delight for the eyes and for the soul.
