Masao, age 15 and his cousin, Tamiko who is two years older than him have been on good terms with each other since their childhood days. Tamiko comes to live in Masao’s house to take care of his sick mother, Kiku. The two become the subject of gossip among Kiku’s employees as they are too intimate. She decides to send Masao to his junior dormitory in town. Masao conveys his feeling in the letter to Tamiko and leaves home.
Then, word of the prospective marriage brought to Tamiko who does nothing but wait for Masao’s returns. Tamiko firmly refuses but she is forced to return to her parent’s house…
